Role Overview

 

Operating in a dynamic, demanding and ever-changing environment, our client is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join their team.  In this role, you will be responsible for the management and support of the organisation’s Network and associated Network Equipment and software deployed across multiple sites.

 

You will oversee the authorisation and monitoring of access to the IT infrastructure, including the investigation of unauthorised access, compliance, and performance relating to security management.

 

As a Network Engineer you will be required to:

 

  • Support the technical delivery of the new Network and associated Network Equipment.
  • Provide network support to the incident management team, resolving incidentsin a timely manner
  • Install, maintain and upgrade network infrastructure.
  • Manage change to the network Infrastructure including third-party suppliers.
  • Maintain documentation for the network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, working with users from all areas
  • Work with third parties to ensure the managed networks are supported and maintained.
  • Support Cloud operation – Azure / AWS
  • Operate within an oncall rota to support incidents and planned works out of hours.

 

Experience Required:

 

  • Extensive experience of implementing, managing and supporting telecoms solutions in a 24×7 environment including Cisco LAN and WAN technologies (MPLS/IP)
  • Strong knowledge of core networking technologies and providers.
  • Extensive experience of managing LAN/WAN switches and hubs.
  • Experience on next-generation networking including Cisco ACI, NFV and SDWAN
  • Experience of network firewalls, with in-depth knowledge of Palo Alto and Cisco.
  • Understanding of cloud environments including Azure and AWS.
  • Datacenter best practice: cabling, racking and documenting.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS, ISO 27001 or equivalent certification frameworks.
  • Understanding of PSN COCO and related security standards.
  • Understanding of URL filtering technologies

Due to the nature of the work undertaken by the client, candidates will be required to undertake baseline vetting.  Therefore, any applicants must have the permanent right to live and work in the UK and have been a resident in the UK for at least the past 5 years.
